Sar-e-Rah: We all have a set mind-set about the Muslim community that is they don’t let their women compete in outer world, they don’t allow them to show their skin, Muslim women only follow what their father/husband ask them to do.
We all think that if this is happening in our country then what they were doing in Pakistan. Once in our life, we have imagined how those women would have been treated in Pakistan. But, right now, one thing that is trending on internet is a Pakistani serial name- ‘Sar-e-Rah.’
Storyline of Sar-e-Rah
The concept is unique and it breaks all the stereotype. Starring Pakistani famous actress Saba Qamar, this story is about a woman who is a taxi driver. The Storyline of this serial revolves around four women and one transgender started from 4 February 2023.
Talking about the first episode of Sar-e-Rah, the story is about a girl named Rania, who is in love with his childhood friend Faraz. Both want to marry each other but the boy’s mother wants heavy dowry. Suddenly, the girl’s father, a taxi driver, suffers a heart attack and due to his hospital expenses being high, all the money he had saved for his son’s admission is spent.
Later, she decides to drive a taxi in place of her father. Rania’s mother, father and brother refuse to accept this but she sticks to her decision. The next day, she reaches the taxi stand, where she gets her first passenger who gives her lessons before starting work.
Lesson No. 1: If it is a single passenger ride make them sit at the back, not on the front. Only make the ladies sit in the front.
Lesson No 2: Don’t turn around your face to talk to the passenger sitting at the back. Talk to them from the front mirror and look into their eyes like a lioness.
Lesson No 3: Always ask for more fare, let the passenger do the bargaining. Don’t reduce the fare yourself.
Sar-e-Rah Inspiration
I liked this 6-episode serial very much. We have always seen Muslim women in burkha or hijab in our country, but looking at Pakistani serials, it seems that Pakistani peoples are more modern than here.
Modernity does not come only from clothes but from thinking which is clearly visible in this serial of Pakistan. More such stories should be made.
