Pain Hustlers Review

The Plot

A witty young high-school dropout divorced mother Liza Drake’s (Emily Blunt) life changed 360 degrees when she was hired by Pete Brenner (Chris Evans) in a Jack Neel (Andy García) startup pharmaceutical company.

This company makes a medicine which reduces the pain of cancer patients. However, that medicine is a drug about which Liza is unaware. She becomes VP because of bringing maximum profit to the company.

What will Lisa do when she finds out that the company, she works for is actually killing people?

The story strikes an excellent combination of drama, passion, emotion, and suspense. The film’s plot travels well from start to finish.

Performance

Both the actors, Chris Evans and Emily Blunt are brilliant and they fit into the role. However, Liza’s mother character which is played by Catherine O’Hara excites me more whenever she appears on the screen.

Another character Andy Garcia stole the show with his outstanding performance.

Writing and Dialogues

There was no back and forth throughout the picture, which was well-written by Wells Tower The picture begins at one point and concludes at another. However, the process of creating films has evolved. Most films begin in the middle, after which the background story is revealed till the film reaches the midway point, after which the further story is displayed, but this was not the case here.

Dialogues that stayed with me

  • There were times I wanted her to die in a plane crash. And then there were times I wanted her to die in a more slow and painful way.
  • I will not give up on myself. I will not give up on my dreams. I will make my life count.
  • It’s a long-odds lottery ticket buried under a thousand rejections, and you gotta have the grit and the balls to reach down and scratch it.
  • Use your crisis as your fire. You’ll be amazed at what you’re capable of.
  • The truth is, I wanted the money. I wanted the respect. And I wanted it so badly, I stopped caring how I got it.
  • It’s not about pain. What it does is release the same neurochemicals a mother feels the first time she holds her own baby. I mean, that feeling is literally why humans exist.

Direction

David Yates who is famous for directing fantasy movies like Harry Porter, is the director of Pain Hustlers. The movie is full of drama that starts by showing Liza’s situation and then how is managed to solve it.

I liked the part of the film when the company owner Neil loses his mental balance due to his immense success. And forbids everyone in the office to wear shoes. This shows that anything beyond the limit, even if it is money, can be dangerous for you.

Apart from this, Direction was loose throughout the movie.

Real Life-Based Story
