Just a few days ago, I was listening actor Kay Kay Menon’s interview. he mentioned his one of the films “Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi”. I wondered how, despite my admiration for KK’s performance, this picture had escaped my notice. But No worries, I usually watch at-least a movie in a day so I finalized that day’s bioscope.

Movie Roast
Hazaaron Khwaishe Aisi- The Plot

The Beginning was slow but fine. The story is set in the year of 1970s during a period of political and social transformation in India.
Meanwhile, three college students are revolving around each other. Vikram (Shiney Ahuja) is in love with Geeta (Chitrangada Singh) and can do anything to impress her. But Geeta loves Siddharth (Kay Kay Menon) and Siddharth is in love with the ideology of Carl Marx and eager to change the world but won’t mind banging Geeta in the library. 😉
(We all are aware of this phase of life.)
So, Siddharth who is the son of a respectable retired judge, wants to establish his career as a revolutionary who raises slogans and protests against the government. Geeta, on the other hand, has nothing to do with all of this and still firmly supports Siddharth and seeks every possible way to get laid with him.
Now, as far as Vikram’s concerns, he believes in capitalism, but because of Geeta, he is connected to Siddharth as well. However he envies Siddharth after he saw him with her in LIBRARY. 😉
The story revolves around these three neutrons, protons, and electrons. Vikram is running for Geeta; Geeta is reaching Siddharth and Siddharth is behind Marx – Too much fun.
The whole scenario is Senseless because,

Because of the title, which has nothing to do with the film. I think Director Sudhir Mishra must have thought, oh what a line, I will title it my next film, no matter what the story, this name will be the same.
Second, the use of excessive British language. This film has more English than even the Hollywoodians use in their films. It was fine till they were writing letters (Voiceovers) and debating but it crossed the line when these people started speaking English in a Bihar hamlet. This level of intellectualism is not my cup of tea.
Third, the message conveyed by makers: Geeta marries an IAS officer and even after marriage, she has an extramarital affair with Siddharth who is now a known, wanted Naxalist, killed plenty of officers. However, Siddharth comes only when wants to bang her, otherwise, he doesn’t care about her.
And the most ridiculous aspect was that the ideology on which the entire film was based was ended. Siddharth, who describes himself as a revolutionary, eventually proves to be a coward and returns to his father’s house. Geeta, who gets pregnant; supports him in the extremely painful situations but still, Siddharth abandons her and again goes back to the village. Geeta follows him even then too.
And as a result of all of this, Vikram’s life changes. He was a capitalist before becoming psychologically unwell.
Despite a disaster at the box office, this movie was very important because…

He was Sudhir Mishra’s assistant in the film who had completed his studies at NSD (National School of Drama) and was struggling in Mumbai.
During filming in Bihar, the director asked everyone if they knew any Bihari songs. Although no one reacted, his auxiliary stated, “Yes, I know” (He is from Madhya Pradesh, but his teacher was a Bihari who liked to sing).
Sudhir Mishra urged him to create and record of any song. The song was “Hey Sajni.”
Everyone complimented him after the recording. When KK Menon found out, he couldn’t stop himself from asking Sudhir Mishra’s assistant to sing a song. He sang his own created lyrics. KK informed the director that he sings incredibly well.
Mishra ji completely ignored his remarks. Then the Special OPS took him to renowned artists. Sudhir agreed when they told him that his assistant sang well.
Now, the actor was adamant that he wanted him in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. Then he wrote two more verses of his own song and recorded it.
That song is – Bawra Mann Dekhne Chala Ek Sapna. And the singer is- Swanand Kirkire. That’s the only good thing happened.
Kirkire emerged like a lotus in Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi.
Otherwise, the full name of this film would have been – Hazaaron Khwaishein (ki ladki mil jaye bas) Aisi
