Life is Beautiful- Story

The Story revolves around a waiter named Guido Orefice. He is witty and humorous. We can’t even imagine how he perceives the world. Full of life, full of happiness and always entertaining. Then a Princess Dora enters his life, both share a very beautiful bond. Dora was getting married to someone else but she felt in love with Guido. Guido eloped and married her. The two get married and they have a kid. Guido started his own book store.

Life is Beautiful

Life was beautiful then something happened which makes my heart tremble. Actually, the story of the film has been filmed during World War 2 when Nazi German took control on Northern Italy. German forced the Jews onto a train and took them to the concentration camp. Guido and his son were also captured when Dora was not home. When she came back and didn’t find the both, she gets scared and ran to the station. Before the train leaves, Dora also boards the train, even though she was a German.

Mom Dora was shifted with other women, away from her child and husband. In that hostile environment, Guido told his son that we are in a game. We must score 1000 points in this game. Everyone in this room is a player in this game; if we stay in this filthy room and eat at least one meal, we will win and the prize will be a big tank. Guido did not give up his life in that situation and tried to protect his son.

In terms of acting, Roberto Benigni had the finest performance of his career in the picture. He has justified his role as a lover and father. And there could not have been a better Dora than Nicoletta Braschi. His facial expressions were incredible.

Talking about director, then the director of this movie is Roberto Benigni himself. The pace at which the film moved and the time they gave Guido’s character to develop was excellent.

Life is Beautiful

The best scene of the film was when Guido and his son were brought to the camp for the first time, and there the German Soldier asked if anyone knew German, to which Guido replied yes and every word the German said he translate into Jewish. Despite the fact that he did not understand or speak German, he did it to convince his son that it was a game.

Life is Beautiful- My Perception

What I liked best about this film was Guido’s ability to persuade others without forcing his opinions. He would never tell anyone what they should do, but would make them say that they wanted to do what Guido told them to do.

When his son was also fed up of living in the concentration camp, he insisted on going back home. Guido didn’t ignore him and while packing his things to leave, he started acting as if he would lose the game. And ultimately, his son himself agreed to stay.

What Guido did to keep his son calm and save him from the fear of dying was something different. It appears natural to beat someone and he cries, but to beat someone and watch them laugh for the sake of his child is heartbreaking.

Guido made me laugh so much that I burst into tears. This is something I’ve never seen or heard before. I’ve watched a number of inspirational films, but none compare to Life is Beautiful.

Every morning, I thought to myself, “From now on, I’m going to live like Guido.” However, being Guido is not easy, but I will keep trying because Life is beautiful. One just needs to change his perspective.”

Life is Beautiful has compelled me to view films in other languages from around the world. I’d also like my readers to recommend some fascinating and unique cinema for me to watch.
