When Lata Mangeshkar became an actress

Lata Mangeshkar began her career at the age of 13 following her father’s early death. But her first song could not be released. This was a Marathi song. But it was very important for Lata to work because she had to support her family.

Meanwhile, she got a chance to act in a film. She got a small role in a film released in 1942. In this film, she also sang a song which was in Marathi. Her first Hindi song ‘Mata Is Saput Ki Duniya Badal De Tu’ was also from a Marathi film.

She had to act when she first entered the Bollywood industry. She also sang during this period. But she got recognition from the song Aayega Aanewala from Ashok Kumar’s film Mahal, released in 1949. This song changed his world.

When Lata Mangeshkar hid from the world to pursue a career as a music director

People who know more about Lata Mangeshkar know that apart from singing, the singer also did acting in her career. However, very few would be aware that Lata was a music director in addition to a vocalist.

But she always kept his identity as a music director hidden. Lata Mangeshkar gave music in films under the pen name Anandghan. Anandghan means clouds of happiness.

She took full care that no one should know that she also made music. And for that reason, not many people are aware of this element of Lata Mangeshkar’s life.

During her seven decades in the industry, Lata Mangeshkar composed music for just four films, all of which were Marathi productions. He never composed music for the Hindi film industry. She just wished to conceal her identity, while having clear ambitions to pursue a music career.

If reports are to be believed, she also wanted to give music in collaboration with her younger brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar. However, after not getting a positive response from Hridaynath, she abandoned this idea.

She gave music for the 1963 film Mohityanchi Manjula. This was her first work as a musician. After this, she gave music in films like Maratha Tituka Melavava, Saadhi Manasan, and Tambdi Maati.

There was a time when she got a chance to compose music for Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film Anand. But she refused to give music in films due to his daily busy schedule. This was the reason why she distanced herself from this work. This was the period when she had many commitments as a singer.
