The Plot- Khufiya
Let’s talk about the story-
The Opening Scene – In Dhaka Bangladesh, A woman named Heena Rehman AKA Octopus (Azmeri Haque) went to Brigadier Mirza’s (Shataf Figar’s) party and gifted him a perfume. He received a phone call a minute later and discovers Octopus’ plan to murder him so, he stabs her with a fork. Now RA&W lost their Khufiya agent Octopus. How?

Ravi (Ali Fazal) is a R&AW mole who sells all classified information to the American Intelligence agency CIA. Krishna Mehra Code Name- CACTUS (Tabu), the R&AW’s senior officer, is leading the counter investigation to catch him red-handed. Krishna Mehra’s team install CCTV cameras in Ravi’s entire house and office. They surveillance him through day and Night.
Ravi, who works in the agency and whose job title is still Khufiya because he only prints documents all day. What is he up to? Director Vishal didn’t really care. Moving on, Ravi has a gorgeous wife Charu (Wamiqa Gabbi) who is full of life and completely clueless of what is happening on around her. Both have a son, and Ravi’s mother – who is a big devotee of a rockstar cum spiritual baba named Yaara (Ram Sampath) – also lives with them.

However, they obtain information against Ravi and instead of arresting him, they celebrate. Oh, Guys come on, he is a bloody traitor and a smart RA&W agent too. That’s why you guys hired him.
Now, I will not say that you must watch the film to know what happens next. Because its not necessary. I can rate it as A must not-to-watch film even once.
Performance
Undoubtedly, Tabu is brilliant, Ali left no stone unturned and Wamiqa, my darling, is just herself in the first half and performed 360 degree differently yet better in the second half.
On the other hand, Bangladeshi actress- Azmeri Haque held her character beautifully, Ashish Vidyarthi played the role of an intelligent director efficiently, Atul Kulkarni as a cameo appeared as a calm and respected man, Navnindra Behl was great before interval but did overacting the second half.
Music
Vishal’s music was suspenseful yet poetic. There is a rain scene when you can hear the sound of rain and piano simultaneously. Music is so smooth. Song- Jaana Agar Jana ho to mat aana in the voice of Rekha Bhardwaj is listenable. After so long I heard something smoothing. Vishal himself wrote lyrics of it.
Talking about the story and direction, I would like to talk to Vishal directly…
My Letter to Vishal Bhardwaj

Dear Vishal,
I am fine. I hope you will too.
I watched your film Khufiya an hour ago. You know, I was waiting for the release of the movie since its first announcement and honestly
I am still unable to understand why you made this film. I have always heard you saying that you do not compromise on anything, then why did you compromise with the story?
However, according to the Amar Bhushan’s interview- the climax is not the same or there was no climax. R&AW failed to catch the traitor Ravinder Singh and didn’t even locate him. It means you write the entire 2nd half of the film with your imagination.
Then, why is it important to show the lead character HOMOSEXUAL?
You should have focused on the suspense part of it. If you had to avoid working hard on the story then you would have worked hard not to make them. How will you justify your Khufiya work?
Acting was good but you don’t deserve the credit. They are already best at their place. But, tell me one thing and honestly please – what is actually Khufiya in your film? Ali Fazal or Tabu’s sexuality?
Nothing was Khufiya, because everything was revealed in the first half except that the Krishna’s son Vikram, unlike audience or the lead characters, he was the only one who was throughout in suspense about her mother’s sexuality till the end.
And yes, while writing the letter to me, please inform me when you will get over Shakespeare. Let him go now, PLEASE!
And at last, Vishal Jee, I want my 3 hours back.
Yours No-More Admirer (of your movies, your voice is still considerable 😉)
