Erica Robin, a model from Karachi, has been crowned Miss Universe Pakistan 2023. This is happening for the first time that a Pakistani girl will participate in the Miss Universe contest.
According to a website, five women from Pakistan have been selected to represent Pakistan in the Miss Universe contest.
Four other models from different parts of the country participated in the beauty pageant, including Hira Inam, Jessical Wilson, Pakistani-American Malika Alvi, and Sabrina Wasim.
Who is Erica Robin?
Erica Robin born on 14 September 1999. She belongs from a Christian family in Karachi. She completed her schooling from St. Patrick’s Girls High School and then graduated from College of Commerce and Business Administration in Chandigarh.
Erica Robin started her professional modelling career in the year 2020 January and appeared in July 2020 issue of DIVA Magazine Pakistan. After this she did not look back. She did multiple shoots for different fashion brands like Khaadi, ZARA Shahjahan, Sana Safinaz. She also joined as an Assistant Manager at Flow Digital, an IT consulting firm from Karachi in the year 2020.

Controversies related to Miss Universe 2023 Contest
There is controversy regarding the event which was organized for the Miss Universe competition. The Government of Pakistan says that this competition has taken place without permission.
Erica Robin was crowned Miss Universe Pakistan last Thursday and will represent Pakistan at the Miss Universe pageant to be held in El Salvador later this year. The government there has raised questions regarding this competition. Caretaker Information and Broadcasting Minister Murtaza Solangi issued a clarification on social media, saying that the Government of Pakistan are represented by the country and government institutions. Our government has not nominated any non-state and non-governmental person or institution for any such event and how can anyone represent the government?
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Care taker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakkar has directed the Foreign Ministry to investigate who is organizing the competition without the approval of the Pakistan government.
Who organize Miss Universe Competition?
The Miss Universe Pakistan pageant is organized by a franchise owned by the Dubai-based Yugen Group. It also holds the franchise rights to Miss Universe Bahrain and Miss Universe Egypt. The Miss Universe Pakistan pageant has been stuck in controversy on social media over Pakistan’s representation at this year’s Miss Universe pageant and the government’s refusal to sanction such a pageant and representation.

After becoming the winner of Miss Universe Pakistan, Erica Robin said that “I feel honoured to win this title and I want to highlight the beauty of Pakistan to the world. Pakistan has a beautiful culture, which the media never talks about.”
She further said that “I would like to invite everyone to visit our country.”
