All the Light We cannot See Review
The story starts with a woman’s voice-over, narrating the story from a book. Stones suddenly bombard her house, and she collapses. Then she gets back up and after fixing her machine, she resumes speaking. She is a blind woman who tells stories on the radio.
In the year 1944 during World War II, the Nazis occupied Saint-Malo. During this, a blind French woman Marie (Aria Mia Loberti) playing her role significantly, narrates stories via broadcasting through air raid – which is a criminal offence.
The story she is narrating is actually a code from which the spy is extracting information. On the other hand, Werner Pfennig (Louis Hofmann), a German soldier, has been influenced by the story of the girl who has been hired to decode it. Now, Germans are looking for that blind woman.
“Take a last drink before we die”– This is the scene where we can watch Werner listening to the radio. His fellow partner is asking him that- we are about to die and you are listening to the radio. The scene is enough to hook you up with the story.
The next scene reveals the story of Young Marie and her fighting spirit. Daniel LeBlanc (Mark Ruffalo), Marie’s father, is training her to survive in the world using her other senses. He took her to the museum and made her able to feel things by smelling them.
The second thing he did was to let her listen to the voice, which helped her to understand the surroundings.
He teaches her to describe things through touch. Daniel said Marie- “the world’s still the world whether you can see or not. Your fingers are your eyes. You have ten fingers, and most people only have two eyes.”
And here comes the most valuable thing in the museum where no one is allowed- “Sea of Flames” because it is cursed. Whoever touches the stone is also a curse. What is the curse? This will be revealed after watching the web series.
A must watch series because it contains thrill, drama, emotion, suspense, and of course romance.
